Film Influence Fridays

So I've been digging through my movies looking for my favorites in order to rekindle my inspiration. I've got a handful of story ideas that I need to get out of my mind and onto paper/the computer screen/WHATEVER, and at times like this I love to revisit my favorite flicks. Today it's
JOHN CARPENTER'S BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA!

Not gonna hype this up, because this is just an awesome film to watch at any time!

Enjoy!

Can You See What I See?

I've started drawing again. It's been about 15-20 years.  Maybe more, and it shows.  It'll take some time and practice, but I'll get sharper at it.  What I'd eventually love to do is start incorporating my drawing skills into making better storyboards for the films I'd like to shoot.

(Sketch 2)

At first I didn't care for the style I was drawing.  By the second sketch which was about a week later I realized that it was more or less my own style that I'm seeing.  Still hasn't quite grown on me, because I know that I've done different in the past, but I do like it.  I'll post some more in the future so that I can track my progress.

“Do. Or do not. There is no try.”

So from here on out, I'm gonna start posting more things that I've worked on and or created so that my blog has a nice blend of not only the things I'm inspired by, but also what those things inspire me to do.

Here's my most recent work, "Ratchet Point", a comedic short written by Chamia Lane, starring Sachiko Ishida and Quavail "Q" Leontay, with fight choreography by Mark G. Elefane. I provided the camera work, editing, and the additional musical track, "Shine" was performed by Benny Chavez.

Video Game Geek

DMC Definitive looks awesome! Although I've already got it for the 360, but I don't have all of the dlc that comes with it, so that's my excuse.

God Eater 2 is looking pretty damn sweet also! Loved everything about the 1st, which I've gotta get back on so I can finish it in time for this one!

And while we're on the topic of upcoming games...

When Street Fighter V drops, I'll probably disappear from all human life for about 3-6 months!  Check out this interview over at Polygon with Capcom Corporate Officer Yoshinori Ono, where he says, "It really was an uphill battle..." within his efforts in trying to revive Street Fighter back in 2004, and some updates on the up and coming SF5: http://www.polygon.com/a/life-in-japan/Ono-Street-Fighter-5

Street Fighter Junkie

So I've recently gotten into watching other videogame players on Twitch, especially within the fighting game genre. It's like interactive reality tv... except it's live (most of the time) and it's something you actually want to see and don't feel guilty about afterwards... that is if videogames are your thing. So here's a dude that I like to watch, who's ranked pretty high in Street Fighter playing his best character, Gouken. Watch live video from KingBlackToof on www.twitch.tv

Today's Movie Of The Day...

I meant to post this a few hours ago, so let's just say this was for 1/19/15

Awesome flick, which I highly recommend if you've got an odd sense of humor or if you just enjoy watching strange indie films, like me.

Evil Residents

Just took a stop over at Gametrailers.com (check the vid above if you're curious) for their review on the new remaster of the twenty year old title "Resident Evil" which I was happy to see it received an awesome score! Of course I'll share my own opinion after I pick up the game for myself, but I can't imagine the father of the survival horror videogame genre sucking that much after an hd rehash for next gen systems. Onimusha immediately comes to mind when I think of other Capcom titles I'd like to see receiving the same treatment.

After Resident Evil this was my second favorite survival horror series.

There's something unique and fresh about using the Samurai time period in Japan as the setting for a horror story. I remember feeling the same dread from resident evil at times, but then a strength in knowing to facts: 1) I'm a bad ass Samurai 2) I'm a bad ass Samurai that can use the demon's own power to transform my weapons, and eventually myself into a beast more powerful than my enemy.

I don't wanna go on and on about this like it's a Christmas wish list to Santa, so I'm done for now.

Yes that is Jean Reno featured as a character in the 3rd and most epic part of the series! In fact, one of the coolest things about the Onimusha trilogy is that each of its protagonists are all established well known Japanese actors. Definitely ahead of the game seeing that the first Onimusha dropped back in 2001, the 2nd (my favorite) in 2002, and the 3rd and most epic of the 3 in 2004. A title I would gladly return to, even if I've gotta reclaim a PS2.
